"Incorrect, my foolish friend."

As everyone who knows anything about historical college football knows, under bylaw 73c.1.3.3 of the NCAA's Pittsburgh Conference of 1908, public schools located in states that were reconstructed after the civil war can only be awarded National Championships in years when an elected reconstruction party (that is Republican) president is in office. As such, Auburn's five championships stand: 1913 - Taft 1957 - Eisenhower 1983 - Reagan 1993 - Bush 2004 - Bush Initially, one would think Alabama has six championships: 1925 - Coolidge 1926 - Coolidge 1973 - Nixon 1975 - Ford 1977 - Ford 1992 - Bush However, the wording is clear--elected reconstruction party. Neither Ford nor Coolidge were initially elected, and as a result, Alabama has only two national championships. End of story.
