"Sure It's His Place ..."

He's a political commentator, commenting on a very public event that became highly politicized. If he were commenting on what one of my knucklehead friends said at my funeral which was for family only, then he might be out of place.

Mrs. King's funeral was quite similar to the funeral of a president, Supreme Court Justice, Senator, or other public figure. Just look at the attendees. This shows the impact that Mrs. King's family has had on the nation over the last forty years. So to say it was solely a private matter for the King family is to ignore the Emperor's clothing selection. The Kings could have made it that way and declined television coverage, but they did not. Like it or not, we live in a society that has norms. One of those norms is that funerals are to honor the dead and to comfort the bereaved. To do anything else is, arguably, a departure from those norms. When something like this happens in a very public setting, then it is certainly the place of the media to comment on it -- even boorish loudmouths like Neal Boortz.

There is a time and place for everything. Mrs. King's funeral was not an appropriate place for the comments of the Reverend Lowery and President Carter.  There are many other appropriate fora for those kind of remarks.

::::>or his family's or even a friend of his and its not his place to criticize what was said at it. If CSK's family feels like something that she wouldn't have wanted said was said at her funeral then that's their call. He sounds like a whiner if you ask me. I also find it more than just a little funny that Boortz is suddenly the authority on what is or is not appropriate to say.
