Well, I knew my comments would ruffle some feathers but man, what is this stuff? He’s an Aubie in disguise, he has a vendetta against the current Staff because they’ve cut off his access, he just wants to show everyone how much Inside Info he knows, let’s create a counter story to disprove his assertions though he never mentioned any names, who does he think he is ?, he just wants to cause trouble and get attention at the same time, this stuff will only hurt Bama in recruiting.
Okay, first of all, I will not apologize for my remarks because I know their purpose and they weren’t meant to hurt anyone personally nor were they False. Unfortunately, the Net is so political now with Monitors for Bama, Rival Programs, rival Services, rival Fans, and self-proclaimed Bama fans with their own personal issues. I know that I fall into no mentioned category.
When I make very pointed remarks I realize that especially as a Passionate Christian who is a Leader in 2 Ministries mainly focused on Men and a Servant in a few others that I’m “Accountable.” My remarks for those who carefully read them didn’t call for the Termination of someone’s employment. I’m saying that as Public Employees who are central to the success of the highest profile Organization in their State, Excellence is the only option. Hey folks, Recruiting is the lifeblood of this Program with literally hundreds of thousands of dollars being expended to essentially comprise the best collection of up to 25 qualified 17-18 year olds. You know what, Recruiting is Sales.
Maybe it’s living here in the no nonsense environment of Atlanta that has given me a more direct attitude, who knows. I will say this, almost everyone sells regardless of their occupation and I personally bring 20+ years of credentials that modesty aside places me in a high percentile. I’m not seeking to damage someone’s ability to care for their family, assail their integrity, or assert anything of a personal nature but what I am stating is that a Coach’s natural personality can only be adjusted so much but “there are no excuses for a lack of effort that causes key prospects to even bring it up without prompting, period.” I earn a living in an environment which is very clear, “Winners don’t make Excuses, they just find a way to Win.”
When I was asked several months ago at the Cottrell Hearing to explain what this forum is I stated “it’s just a Watering Hole” where fans express opinions, share info, and are “Armchair Quarterbacks.” I understand as a close friend why Rodney has zapped some posts for Business reasons and that’s his call. However, though some creatively attempt to tie our thoughts and actions into a Siemese Twin-like Ribbon, I am honest and fairly direct with careful thought involved.
Folks, I don’t even know a majority of these hard-working men and have only really had conversations with a few ever in my life. As a fan, I do expect as should Coach Moore, Coach Shula, and those of you who truly desire Championships, a Passion to do the things necessary to Win. I don’t believe in this “150%” crap because it’s not humanly possible especially when you have a Wife and Kids needing your active involvement in a more important area of your life. However, when a pattern of feedback continues from one Recruiting Season to another from key prospects then I believe it’s open to discussion even on a Fans Forum.
One thing is also clear: I’ve forgotten more negative stuff and personal opinions than can be counted from not only myself but ex-Players and Boosters. I just want to minimize the Chad Jackson’s, Jason Allen’s, Aaron Sears, etc.. if possible realizing you just will miss on some kids. Folks, decisions can't just be made with emotions but with facts.
I will also say that I’m fortunate to provide info when possible that is sometimes already discussed but many times, is unique. This is not only provided through a strong Network but also from people who have access and Trust with key prospects that Recruiting Services “will not” obtain or report if obtained intentionally or due to “surface level-only” relationships built with the prospects. Why do you think I have broken some commitments myself before any Services or given contrary info to what was reported elsewhere that is later proven accurate even though I live here in Atlanta and am not in the Reporting Arena ? I have complete Trust in the Sources of the info where I make very pointed characterizations as I did yesterday, period.
Finally, as a Bama Fan, I am happy with this Staff’s progress this year and support them completely. They are not operating on equal ground right now and with some tweaking on the offensive side with schemes and talent, Bama will be ready to really have the coming out party in ’07 that Coach Shula has been communicating.
