"My problem with Bitter_Bob..."
|
|
I've been hesitating to write this letter, because I've been afraid that, if I did, Bitter _ Bob would do everything in his power to make me lose my cultural moorings and become a rootless drifter in a cosmopolitan chaos. But after reading about Bitter's wishy-washy, debauched prank phone calls, I could hesitate no longer. One of my objectives is to encourage opportunity, responsibility, and community. When I first heard about his propositions, I didn't know whether to laugh, because his ravings are so sex-crazed, or cry, because his apostles are unified under a common goal. That goal is to show us a gross miscarriage of common judgment. When I first encountered his paroxysms, all I could think of was, "He advertises his strict morality solely to shift attention away from his many vices." Bitter is a big fan of vigilante justice. In just a moment I'll discuss some important recent developments based on this fundamental truth. First, however, I want to add a bit to what I wrote previously. I want my life to count. I want to be part of something significant and lasting. I want to address a number of important issues.
If he isn't nefarious, I don't know who is. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that Bitter doesn't write off whole sections of society. He is addicted to the feeling of power, to the idea of controlling people. Sadly, he has no real concern for the welfare or the destiny of the people he desires to lead. Were he alive today, Hideki Tojo would be his most trustworthy ally. I can see Tojo joining forces with Bitter to help him promote a form of government in which religious freedom, racial equality, and individual liberty are severely at risk. It's not just that it is hardly surprising that Bitter hides behind the carefully managed prevarication that sin is good for the soul, but also that he claims that we're supposed to shut up and smile when he says pugnacious things. I would say that that claim is 70% folderol, 20% twaddle, and 10% another money-grubbing attempt to defy the rules of logic.
As someone who is working hard to raise the quality of debate on issues surrounding his antihumanist, pertinacious undertakings, I must point out that the next time he decides to gain a respectable foothold for his disingenuous jokes, he should think to himself, cui bono? -- who benefits? So who's crazy? I, or all the deceitful ochlocrats who contend that Bitter is the best thing to come along since the invention of sliced bread? Before you answer, let me point out that I like to speak of Bitter as "dour". That's a reasonable term to use, I maintain, but let's now try to understand it a little better. For starters, as sure as a bear does you-know-what in the woods, he will delude and often rob those rendered vulnerable and susceptible to his snares because of poverty, illness, or ignorance by the end of the decade. Now that that's cleared up, I'll continue with what I was saying before, that if history follows its course, it should be evident that he truly believes that honor counts for nothing. I hope you realize that that's just an addlepated pipe dream from a rotten pipe, and that in the real world, my general thesis is that Bitter has frequently been spotted making nicey-nice with dishonest, libidinous weasels. Is this because he needs their help to palliate and excuse the atrocities of his adulators? Let me give you a hint: He has gotten away with so much for so long that he's lost all sense of caution, all sense of limits. If you think about it, only a man without any sense of limits could desire to pooh-pooh the reams of solid evidence pointing to the existence and operation of a cynical, misguided coterie of antipluralism. I'll talk a lot more about that later, but first let me finish my general thesis: If you think that he would sooner give up money, fame, power, and happiness than perform an insensitive act, then you're suffering from very serious nearsightedness. You're focusing too much on what Bitter wants you to see and failing to observe many other things of much greater importance. The funny thing is, Bitter's utterances may have been conceived in idealism, but they quickly degenerated into socially inept fogyism.
My purpose is to educate the public on a range of issues. Most of the battles I fight along the way are exigencies, not long-range educational activities. Nevertheless, there are those who are informed and educated about the evils of boosterism, and there are those who are not. Bitter is one of the uninformed, naturally, and that's why he is always prating about how we should avoid personal responsibility. (He used to say that people are pawns to be used and manipulated, but the evidence is too contrary, so he's given up on that score.) I recently informed him that his worshippers impede the free flow of information. Bitter said he'd "look further into the matter." Well, not too much further; after all, I'm willing to accept that only by striving to arraign him at the tribunal of public opinion can I carry out the famous French admonition, écrasez l'infâme!, against his inveracities. I'm even willing to accept that a day of reckoning is coming, and Bitter will be called to account. But the objection may still be raised that Bitter's activities are on the up-and-up. At first glance, this sounds almost believable. Yet the following must be borne in mind: Now that I've been exposed to Bitter's positions, I must admit that I don't completely understand them. Perhaps I need to get out more. Or perhaps Bitter has warned us that before long, disdainful, domineering jabberers will mortgage away our future. If you think about it, you'll realize that Bitter's warning is a self-fulfilling prophecy in the sense that Bitter will stop at nothing to move increasingly towards the establishment of a totalitarian Earth. This may sound outrageous, but if it were fiction I would have thought of something more credible. As it stands, Bitter is typical of unbridled lugs in his wild invocations to the irrational, the magic, and the fantastic to dramatize his convictions.
More concretely, if you ever ask Bitter to do something, you can bet that your request will get lost in the shuffle, unaddressed, ignored, and rebuffed. While self-justification may motivate splenetic inarticulate-types, the same hariolations also work well for boisterous know-nothings. I, for one, have begged his myrmidons to step forth and indicate in a rough and approximate way the two censorious tendencies that I believe are the main driving force of modern gangsterism. To date, not a single soul has agreed to help in this fashion. Are they worried about how Bitter might retaliate? While I don't know the answer to that particular question, I do know that the reason Bitter wants to send children to die as martyrs for causes that he is unwilling to die for himself is that he's utterly parasitic. If you believe you have another explanation for his callow behavior, then please write and tell me about it.
His cronies, who are legion, portray themselves as fervent believers in freedom of speech and expression, but are loath to reveal that if Bitter were paying attention -- which it would seem he is not, as I've already gone over this -- he'd see that he needs to stop living in a fool's paradise. From this anecdotal evidence, I would argue that I shall not argue that Bitter's newsgroup postings are an authentic map of his plan to feed blind hatred. Read them and see for yourself. My argument gets a little complicated here. If I am correctly informed, the intent of this letter is certainly not hatred, but a probing look into an obviously significant issue. In any case, what he is doing is not an innocent, recreational sort of thing. It is a criminal activity, it is an immoral activity, it is a socially destructive activity, and it is a profoundly dissolute activity. Bitter offers two reasons as to why the Eleventh Commandment is, "Thou shalt understate the negative impact of mercantalism". He argues that (1) character development is not a matter of "strength through adversity" but rather, "entitlement through victimization", and (2) the purpose of life is self-gratification. These arguments are invalid for the following reasons: First, I like to face facts. I like to look reality right in the eye and not pretend it's something else. And the reality of our present situation is this: Bitter says that everyone would be a lot safer if he were to monitor all of our personal communications and financial transactions -- even our library records. Why on Earth does Bitter need to monitor our library records? Any honest person who takes the time to think about that question will be forced to conclude that Bitter is thoroughly gung-ho about egotism because he lacks more pressing soapbox issues.
Abominable thought police (like Bitter) are not born -- they are excreted. However unsavory that metaphor may be, Bitter is not a responsible citizen. Responsible citizens give peace a chance. Responsible citizens truly do not extract obscene salaries and profits from corporations that nourish salacious ideologies. I have taken the liberty of letting him know that his subliminal psywar campaigns are based on prejudices and preconceived notions. That shouldn't surprise you when you consider that he has written volumes about how he can override nature. Don't believe a word of it, though. The truth is that he wants to send the wrong message to children. What's wrong with that? What's wrong is Bitter's gossamer grasp of reality. It's quite a feat of hypocrisy for Bitter to deny he wants to destroy the lives of good, honest people after so recently doing exactly that, at least insofar as this essay is concerned.
Nobody wants him to leave behind a wake of snotty reaction, but Bitter insists on doing it anyway. It is more than a purely historical question to ask, "How did his reign of terror start?" or even the more urgent question, "How might it end?". No, we must ask, "Does he believe, deep in the adytum of his own mind, that no one is smart enough to see through his transparent lies?" I can give you only my best estimate, made after long and anxious consideration, but I do not pose as an expert in these matters. I can say only that we were put on this planet to be active, to struggle, and to maximize our individual potential for effectiveness and success in combatting him. We were not put here to devalue me as a person, as Bitter might feel.
On a television program last night, I heard one of this country's top scientists conclude that, "An axiom among Bitter's vassals is that everyone and everything discriminates against Bitter -- including the writing on the bathroom stalls." That's exactly what I have so frequently argued, and I am pleased to have my view confirmed by so eminent an individual. Some would say that this is a platitude. Would that it were! Rather, his apple-polishers are the worst that humanity has to offer. Think about it, and I'm sure you'll agree with me.
Ironically, Bitter tries to make us think the way he wants us to think, not by showing us evidence and reasoning with us, but by understanding how to push our emotional buttons. I believe I am not alone when I say that this is a lesson for those with eyes to see. It is a lesson not so much about his distasteful behavior, but about the way that he is a man of questionable moral character. For proof of this fact, I must point out that if he is victorious in his quest to put the most sadistic crooks I've ever seen on the federal payroll, then his crown will be the funeral wreath of humanity. What conclusion should we draw from Bitter's whinges? How about that it is ridiculous that I have to be faced with monomaniacs whose juvenile credos are constantly treated with apathy? Some day, I want to provide a positive, confident, and assertive vision of humanity's future and our role in it. But you don't have to wait for that. What you can do now is talk to everyone you know about the things I've told you in this letter. Use every medium available to you. Use the Internet. Use your telephone. Use radio and newspapers. And whatever you do, never be afraid to speak out against the evil that is Bitter _ Bob.
