Auburn Announces Expansion of Jordan-Hare Stadium

April 1, 2004

AUBURN- Auburn University today announced that it would begin a significant expansion of Jordan-Hare Stadium at an estimated cost of $29.2M. The first stage involves renovation to the upper east side of the stadium with improvements to the suites, construction of 12 new suites and club seats in the lower stands and additional seating in the upper deck. The second stage involves reconstruction of the east and west sides of the stadium. New toilet facilities, concession stands, walking surfaces, lighting and fencing will be improved under the phase. Phase III will include an expansion of the much loved Jumbotron as well as special club seats for the very popular rent-a-cop security force that insures spectator safety at all Auburn Tigers' home games. Additionally, a state-of-the-art amplification system will be installed in the section occupied by the Auburn Marching Band to insure loudness of the AU band. Additionally, an innovative technology inspired by Get Smart's "Cone of Silence" will be installed in the visitors area. This technology, code named STFU (Silencing Technology For U), will only be implemented for the Ole Miss game in order for Auburn fans to be able to sing and hear the Auburn Alma Mater without interruption.

Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum Inc. (HOK) and Turner Construction, the architectural and construction teams have been awarded the contract and have assured Auburn University that the project will be completed on time, if not ahead of schedule, and under budget.
