I know that I have been sort of mocking you Aubie guys all week but in all seriousness I sympathize with the Aubie Nation. It is rare for any major Div 1A team to go through a season undefeated and untied, and as such the team should be rewarded for it; ie, have a chance to play for the NC.
In your case, unfortunately, you fell victim to the media fawning all over the OU-USC matchup, the Heisman winners matchup, the Heisman runner up match ups, etc, au nauseum. Right or wrong, they were the marque teams and as long as they kept winning , everyone else were just spectators.
I am not going to get into the comparison of the teams, their schedules, their margin of victory and all that, but I will say that you could play a round robin of AU, OU and USC from now until next fall and either of the three teams would win their share of the games. But, the die was cast for Auburn when SC and OU finished undfeated.
I for one would also be pissed and frustrated if Bama had been in your situation.
Dont get me wrong, I still hope yall lose every game in every sport, but you did get screwed over.
It could be worse, yall could be sitting at 6-6. Believe me, that sucks.
