- Auburn deserves a shot at the MNC due to the performance on the field in 2004. Not preseason polls, not last year's disappointment, not the desire of some to see White and Leinart on the same field. I will always be a tad disappointed that we weren't 'annointed'.
- Auburn's team and family have a lot to be thankful for with this team's success, and they will always be special to us. The great class and the great performances will make 2004 a season like no other.
I do NOT believe that these two items cannot co-exist. I do not feel that thinking both things for a little while is wrong or a waste of time. We have several weeks to geek up for VPI, and several months to prep for 2005. No reason not to think and talk some on both points.
I also believe that we have a great opponent upcoming, one that I look forward to playing. Always respected Tech. Spent a weekend there once (long, not especially interesting story for now), and feel that AU and Tech have a lot in common overall. I even thought they would have been a better fit (at the time) to the SEC than Arky. Auburn will have it's hands full, but should match up okay. VPI is just a couple of late plays away from being undefeated themselves, and though we'll get little respect if we win from the 'experts', it would be as worthwhile a victory as one over Utah, USC or OU.
Let's welcome the Tech fans that wander by, with them in the ACC there is always the chance that we run into them someday (though hopefull not for a while!) in the Peach Bowl. Or maybe they'll get that home-and-home settled for real.
War Eagle! 12-0! SEC Champs! and #1 to us all!
