Nothing. I would love to see Auburn play in the Orange Bowl for a MNC. That appears less likely after today's polls. I have not seen the vote distribution, but I'll guess there's been some "gamesmanship" going on with the votes. There's no way to explain Oklahoma widening their lead on Auburn in both polls after yesterday's games.
I refuse to let the BCS system steal my joy over this Auburn team's season. Those young men have done everything that's been asked of them. They had wins over top competition in LSU, UGA, and UT. They won a game on the road against a bitter rival to extend the Tuscaloosa streak to five. They finished the regular season 11-0. I can only think of four other SEC teams in the last 25 years that got to 11-0. Georgia in 1980, Alabama in 1992, Auburn in 1993, Tennessee in 1998, and Auburn in 2004 (maybe Florida in 1995 before Nebraska). That's it. This team has joined an elite fraternity. The conference has seen many GREAT football teams over those years, but only a handful achieved what this Auburn team did.
What's more, they have been great representatives for Auburn. The team unity is incredible. They are unselfish and handle themselves publicly in a manner that makes me proud to be a fan. Don't get so caught up in this travesty of a system that you forget to enjoy it. An undefeated SEC regular season is just too rare a gem not to embrace it for everything it's worth.
War Eagle!
