has to get rid of this ring that has mystical powers. The ring is Hobbes' and has the power to transform mere football teams into SEC Champions. There is an evil wizard in Gainesville that tries to get his hands on the ring for evil purposes (to convert an also-ran mediocre team to a perenial champ). There are other evil wizards in Knoxville, Tuscaloosa and Athens (and for a short time by a former ringbearer in Baton Rouge) who fly around on big mystical dragons and each of these evil wizrds have possessed the ring for periods since 1989. A good wizard named Tubbydalf who comes into posession of the ring in 2004 restoring balance to the world.
