"True. What else is true is "

either we fight the various aspects, associates, resources, nests and manifestations of radical Islam over there or over here. This is not a fight we chose but it is the fight we have.
The absence of a hard link between Al Queda and Iraq is a non point important only to a western mindset. We are fighting a mentality so foreign to us that our belief in civility hampers us.
We care about due process, collateral damage, war crimes etc and so we fight with our arms tied. Our enemies have no moral/ethical boundaries or restraints and only care about winning at any cost. The tactics we see daily from them are so unthinkable that we do not even have categories to perceive what our eyes witness. Hiding behind a civilian population, sending women and children into public areas with bombs tied to them -- unthinkable to us and an acceptable plan for our enemies.
I am sorry for the situation and especially for the soldiers who must fight and for those who are killed but that is a choice preferable to planting a Fallujah or West Bank in every large city in the US. And that is the path we are on.
