(EDITED BY AUTHOR: 3/10/2004 - 10:27 a.m.) it possibly can get, then it will get worse. What all of us fail to understand is that a whole generation of doctors, who were trained to believe myself included that the what we did was important no matter what the personal cost to the physician, is now becoming more and more convinced that personal sacrifice it is no longer worth it. The next generation of doctors is not going to care as much or try as hard to care for people, because they have been taught, by the legal system and the media, that people do not care or believe in what we do for them; or worse yet, that we are their enemy-out to cheat the government, harm the public, and line our pockets, at every opportunity, without thought or concern. The government treats us in this manner when it comes to being reimbursed for Medicare-we are all treated as potential felons. Many physicians have stopped taking Medicare or Medicaid for the amount of effort it takes to convince the feds that we are legitimately billing for services rendered.
Now I know many of you will say "Oh, boo hoo, poor me, you are crying to people who do not make what you make". Well, all I have to say, is --you asked me for my take on this, Wayne. And besides that-from what I can tell- most of the people here make MORE than I make and have little to none of the liability. When you have a bad day at work, someone's system crashes, or someone's designs are wrong. When I have a bad day at work, someone's family member dies. Try taking that home at night.
Sorry again. I shouldn't be getting so upset. I had a bad night last night. I'll try not to vent like this again.
