Once again a season that opens with hope and promise ends with the team looking like a patient with heart and lung failure, limping and wheezing toward the tourney dragging an oxygen bottle. In a replay of season after season we lose ALL of the 5 or 6 point games, get the stuffing beat out of us by the big guys, get swept by an average bama team -- and manage to win a few meaningless games.
Our history is punctuated by a few seasons of success with 5 to 7 year droughts in between. Has any SEC school made fewer NCAA and NIT appearances than AU?
Is there an SEC series of any length where we hold the edge in W-L? Is there a less adequate arena for basketball in our league? Does any SEC team have more sub .500 conference league records than we have?
Drop basketball and end the farce.
