"As Lousel likes to compare football to war"

(EDITED BY AUTHOR: 12/3/2003 - 12:15 p.m.)

I give him the American Revolution. The Declaration of Independence states "when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to render them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government" Auburn alumni and fans have suffered long under such a "long train of abuses" that have served no purpose but to subjugate the university to the whims of King Lowder. The recent fiasco served as a clarion call to the Auburn nation. We have met the forces of King Lowder in the village commons and stood toe to toe. As they made their retreat from our "Lexington and Concord", we bloodied them repeatedly. They now seek to hide behind a veil of deceptive propaganda that would do Joseph Gobbels proud. We won the battle. Do we now quit the conflict before the issue is satisfactorily resolved. I pray not. Let us continue to bring all the pressure to bear wihin our capabilities. Through financial means - boycott Colonial Bank - contribute (if you are able) to ATIP and the Alumni Association, and through political means - continue to call, write and e-mail the governor and your state senator and representative. Let us bring an end to the rule of King Lowder and remove his puppets from positions of authority over Auburn University. The words of Sir Edwin Markham should be heeded - "For all your years prepare and meet them ever alike. When you are the anvil, bear. When you are the hammer, strike!" We are the hammer now, let us strike long and continuosly
