"As you know, I've said since last year that we...."

have LESS security at JH now than 2 years ago.....teenagers, mostly, hired at low prices to basically take up tickets and to hold the dual role of "security". They hang out in the tunnels during the game, leaning against posts, sitting on whatever table or turnstyle is available.....many have their shirt-tails hanging out. So, just why would AU abandon REAL security and abandon the Lions Club for taking up tickets in favor of this dual-purpose group? Well, a certain contractor/so-called lobbyist - much written of lately - has a financial stake in CSC's Alabama entity. That is why. AU sold its soul, and the safety of its fans and visiting fans, so that more money could go into the back pocket of Rick Heartsill. Well, hell. Sometimes you gotta tear it down before you can build it back up again. (EDITED BY AUTHOR: 10/23/2003 - 3:51 p.m.)

How could I forget this? Back in MY day, we had real security at JHS. Members of the Lions Club (usually vets of WW2 or Korea) plus local, County, State and University Law Enforcement made sure that no one got on the field without a sideline pass. Oh, also Robert from the physical plant helped out to. Robert is the guy who personally picked upseveral Georgia students attempting to rush the field in 1982 and tosees them bodily over the fence telling them "That my grass. Don't you get on my grass. I #badword# you up." Anyway before the game, I was given a sideline pass so that I could take my place with the rest of the Greatest Team to Ever Wear the Orange and Blue ... I was told that I could not bring my son on the sidelines as they wanted to limit the number of people on the field at half time. So I left Tommy in the gentle care of MAC and his Crimson Tide Bride. I was able to walk on the field, no one checked my sideline pass. Half of the GTTEWTO&B brought their spouses, sons and daughters with them. No one checked their passes either. Great job security. Oh and real nice job taking they did my ticket going into the game. No terrorist is ever going to sneak into JHS with their 8 year old white bread son carrying a mini-helemt autographed by Bo Jackson. You can sleep assured at night of that.
