are disappointed that my reaction to the abysmally stupid decision to take Col. Reb is to boycott the athletic events.
Turns out my $35 a pop might be well spent elsewhere....considering how disgusting most people feel the season is so far, and we DID stink up the SEC last week with that jr. high school performance in football. I still say that the season goes pretty much the way fan support and school spirit goes......and at Ole Miss it's gone!
I mean...somebody check the atmosphere out there for a pulse!
'Course you know WHY I think our school spirit is off the beam a bit......apathy......disgust.....enough is enough has permeated the fan base. Ya know what the Good Book says, "A house divided against itself cannot stand!" Of course, I doubt Robert Khayat or Pete Boone give a care what GOD thinks about division.....for them, what does God know better than they do?
You can call me a traitor....say I bailed on my team.....say I am a communist...whatever you want, but the cow has died, PDM, and we don't need the BULL anymore!
We laid down the highly deadly sticks with the promise that all our remaining traditions were ours to love and cherish and observe.....and here we are.......Colonel-LESS and mad as hell. You guys...or some of you, love to chide us with we want OLD SOUTH stuff or we are racist.......or we are being silly about an OLD man with a cane......outdated, a recruiting killer.....NONE of it proved by any statistics...in fact much to your chagrin......the study said our symbols were okay, but Hey, we can't be YALE with the sticks and the old man.......no big deal, huh?
PDM, live a little longer and you won't be so gullible and naiive. Some things are not up for debate.......Ole Miss and its traditions are NOT up for debate. Now you can remove the debate by dictatorial means......which has been done, but don't you dare tell those of us who REFUSE to give in to this PC crap how to react or feel. We are not mindless icons lost in the southern past like you would love to portray us.......we are damn proud to be who we are with all our southerness in tact.
Calling me a racist doesn't make me racist any more than you buying a piano makes you a concert pianist. Some of us are just taking a stand.....and we are saying, "YOU can have it like it is now.......by mandate!" Don't you just love how it has KILLED the entire season almost?
It's just the beginning of the nightmare unless the fans, the students, the alumni are given a voice. I am disappointed in you, PDM, because you fail to recognize that I am no shallow southern female with the IQ of a magnolia and the mindset of a mint julep......I am perfectly capable of assessing what I will and will not support.......and another group of rowdy Rebels in 1776 gave me the right and freedom to do just what I am doing.
Ole Miss ain't Ole Miss anymore. I do NOT miss what I see out there now! What I love and cherish is far more important than a national championship in football which the mid-level SEC Ole Miss program will NEVER accomplish with or without a mascot!
