but way too much is being made of this "pre-season" bull#badword#. This staff has used that same terminology since they have been here. It is not surprising that the players would think of it in the same terms. They are pre-conference games. It doesn't mean we are treating them like scrimmages (despite the wretched results). It is not surprising that the conference season is a focus of the staff. They want to win the conference. I do too. No one seemed to mind this verbiage when we won the "pre-season" games.
Tuberville, et al., can be fairly criticized for many, many things after this atrocious start. We are substandard in so many areas that it is much easier to list the things that are going well: the white uniforms look good, we defend the pass well on third and one, the run defense is usualy adequate (at least against Ga. Tech).
This "pre-season" stuff is a non-issue. Particularly given the numerous real issues that face this football team right now.
That was therapeutic. Well, not really.

The Tigers need to quickly turn the season around following a 0-2 start, and the Auburn players took the matter into their own hands on Sunday afternoon in a team-only meeting led by a strong group of seniors.
The meeting helped the players air some of their differences and take responsibility for their own actions according to senior offensive lineman Mark Pera.
“Those games are behind us and we start our season this week,” quarterback Jason Campbell explained. “Our goal now is to reach Atlanta. That is our main goal. We lost our two preseason games and now it is the SEC.”
Starting cornerback Junior Rosegreen echoed Campbell’s thoughts and says people shouldn’t count out the Tigers just yet.
“We are excited about SEC week,” Rosegreen said. “The two games that we played were preseason games and they didn’t really count. They just count for the polls. Our goal is still reachable – to win the SEC.
“It never fails,” he added. “Anytime we are at the bottom and people write us off, that is when Auburn plays their best football. People can count us out and our fans can quit on us but our coaching staff and the players are not going to quit.”
