Actually, we hired a stinkin' P.E. coach not to call plays, but because his son is a considerable athlete and fit an offensive scheme being installed at a certain local "pipeline" school whose supporters have considerable pull on the BOT. He calls plays because that was the only job available for him that made it look like he was hired on his own merits. His hiring is indicative of a cancer that runs far deeper than simple ineptitude on CTT's part.
As someone in the administration told me privately a few years back, this particular problem at Auburn will not be solved until "some people start dying off." Until then, Auburn will not live up to its potential both on the field and off, and as things stand right now, I see no way to change that without a complete change of the current leadership.
