"My turn to vent on the game"
|
|
I'm still pretty livid, and of this second I am 100% on the fence over CTT. I won't jump off the wagon, but I'm standing up and looking for a soft spot to land. CTT needs to show the fans more respect by not blowing smoke.
First off, I'm sick and tired of hearing how they 'stacked the line'. Bull#badword#. Their safeties played closer to the line than they might have if they actually respected the passing game, but they certainly weren't 'in the box'.
Second off, I'm sick and tired about hearing about OL depth. We have, supposedly, 19 DL. If we also have about 10 potential OL we should be able to, between the TWENTYNINE big bodies, find 5 that can block. If not, fire Nall. Period. That simple. Everyone should have known that Taylor B was likely done. To plan anything around him was moronic.
Third. That was the worst play-calling I've seen in a long time. And not just one bad call like a fake punt. Play after play. Misdirection? Screens and draws? Fade patterns? Bootlegs? Rollouts? They didn't run enough of them to keep USC honest. Anyone could see it from anywhere in the stadium. Except our coaches apparently.
4. Ben O. He's having a LOT of trouble holding onto the ball. Bench him. At least Festko can catch, even if he's not fast or big.
Fifth. Coach Tub. Quit saying whatever you think you SHOULD say, and tell the truth. Quote "You can't put all your eggs in one basket." But you've been saying for MONTHS that was what you were planning! Which is it? The last 6 halves of last year, the only time according to you that we couldn't run the ball was when Brandon Johnson was out (2nd half of UGA). NOW you say we will run more one back offenses. Why? Which is it?
Sixth. QB. It's hard to blame JC for what happened. But as the QB with the ability to change plays at the line, give the coaches input on what could work and the supposed talent to make things happen, he bears some of the responsibility. We read all summer about how much better he was going to be, how he COULD win a game if he had to. Well, I don't now think that he can. And based on all available game experience, we may not have one on the roster that could win an SEC game right now. That's another thing that CTT has to answer for.
The defense. They did a pretty good job considering the circumstances they were given. Fine. But with the talent that THEY say they have, they should have done better. Force some turnovers. Make the opponent go backwards. Give the offense something to build off of. Didn't happen.
The future. I'm really not sure what to think about this team. A good many players and all of the offensive coaches let down their teammates, the fans, and the Auburn. I never thought that we would win every game. I'm not sure how we'll win the West at this point, and I'll give the team my support if they do get back to work and make improvements. But Coach Tub is trying my patience not only for making bad decisions, but also for not being straight with those that he should be the straightest with.
