"Don’t post here often, but this cathartic for me, my 93 yr old mom passed Tuesday"

morning at home, peacefully. One of my brothers and I was there. 5 of us had been staying with her 24/7 since December 2023 after a bout with Covid. She had multiple health issues but dementia is what got her in the end.

Mom was born in March 1931, the 4th of 5 children who lived. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings. Her father was a teacher and a farmer. She told me about coming home from the field to see their first electric light. She did her schoolwork by coal oil lamp up to that point. Her parents had one of the few radios in the area and so entertained guests on occasion to listen to radio programs. She married my dad before graduating high school or shortly after in 1949 and promptly had my oldest brother in 1950. (The math works) By 1957 they had 5 kids. I came along in 63. In January 1978 dad passed after a lengthy, horrid battle with cancer. She never dated or married anyone else in the years after. She attended two churches in her lifetime. One near her childhood home and the other until she was unable to attend a couple years ago. She was a constant reader of her Bible, Zane Gray books and harlequin romance books. She loved to travel, but hated to drive. She was one of those parents who could always find you some chores to do lol. She also didn't spare the switches or the old white Avon hairbrushes when the occasion called for it lol. She also used to read me Bible stories at bedtime when I was little.

She is gone and I will miss her. I feel somewhat unmoored now. I take comfort in knowing that no one was more faithful in church than her. Her and dad are together again along with her parents and siblings.

If you aren't close with your Lord Christ Jesus, I urge you to do so. Even though she lived a long life, life is still short and none of us are guaranteed another day regardless of age or health.

I’m gonna miss my momma.
