bypass machine..kept ECMO machine on standby in case.....thursday took out all the tubes in his chest except for one for lung drainage...
I found out Alex had CPR twice- that Saturday night at Huntsville hospital and the next afternoon at childrens....,my daughter said CPR wrecks lungs so it has taken lomger for them to recover..
they started weaning him off sedatives over weekend (to wake him up slowly) and also has been lowering the ventilator setting ...last night he locked eyes with my son and for the first time since sunday showed emotions.
late this morning they took him off ventilator and had a tube in his nose for oxygen.
he tried to talk but couldnt...john said alex looked at his mother and mouthed I love you.....I would have been on the floor bawling.
he is still on dialysis machine and will be for some time....my daughter said kidneys are a stubborn little organ.
not sure what the plan is moving forward...start physical therapy and wean off dialysis I guess.
I do know that he will need a daily shot of blood thinner for the next three months ..thankfully his mom is an RN.
Alex is coming back to us.
I cant tell you how releived we are... he probably should have died twice before he got to operating room. This time a week a ago it was very touch and go for him.
like my son, said Alex is a cat.
