"Lost my favorite uncle yesterday"

Albert H. McInnis was 98 years young when his body gave up on him. His spirit and his wit never did. Uncle Bert was two in a million. I say two because his twin brother, my Dad, and he were two of a kind. They loved their families, they loved life, and they laughed more than anyone I've ever known. Dad passed away almost 20 years ago and now he and Bert are poking fun at each other in Heaven. When we lost Dad, I turned to Bert and he became "Dad 2" to me. He had always been my favorite uncle, but they were so much alike that when Dad passed, it seemed natural for me to be drawn to him. He was the last of the generation, a title he proudly wore, and now he's gone. The sadness I feel now is akin to 20 years ago when Dad passed, but with the added sadness of a generation now gone. They were the greatest. Godspeed Uncle Bert. I am thankful that your suffering was short lived and that we laughed together the last time I saw you. I miss you already.
