This has been a great run. Most regular season victories ever. 1st ever #1 ranking. Regular season champions. Swept bammer. Beat Kentucky. Brought the best publicity to AU in years. Bruce will be the 2nd winningest coach in AU history by February of next year. All in all a great great year. I've enjoyed it more than I ever expected to.
I say all that because in my opinion winning the NCAA Basketball National Championship is the hardest thing in college sports. So many things can go wrong and it's one and done for six games. In 2019 we only won by one point in the first round then rolled through the blue bloods. Football is a more stable sport, a single injury generally does not change the dynamic, good teams are generally good every game. In baseball you have to lose twice at every level of the playoffs to be eliminated, including the CWS.
Anyway, final four or not this is arguably the best basketball team in Auburn history and I want to appreciate it for that no matter what happens in the tournaments.
Let me add one last thing..though many of these guys are going to be at AU just one year. They have represented us well and not just athletically. They all seem like good kids too.
