Years ago, it had to be Terry Bowden's first year or maybe it was the earthquake game--but I think it was 1993--BIGJOE had a gallbladder attack and was advised to get that gallbladder taken out ASAP. He put the operation off (it was to be laparoscopic)--anyway when the doctor said "no do it now, if stone gets stuck in bile duct then blah blah blah", BIGJOE said 'HELL NO WHAT IF I DIE ON THE OPERATING TABLE THURSDAY AND MISS THE GODDMNED AUBURN LSU GAME" The surgery took place the following Monday. He ws not supposed to eat anything 24 hours before surgery, which was scheduled at 7;00 a.m. So on the way out of Baton Rouge he stops at a waffle house and orders two breakfasts--again on the theory if he died on the operating table at least his last meal was pecan waffles from Waffle House. True story.
