Young man has been working for us over a month. Week or so ago he was on the register and needed pennies for the drawer. He opened the cash box and grabbed a roll of pennies. I stopped him and told him he needed to take fiddy cents out of the drawer so the drawer would balance. In his bewilderment he asked "because quarters weigh more than pennies?" I had to slowly walk him through the basics of a cash drawer.
He is not a high schooler. He is not a college student. He is a college graduate!
Yesterday he needed change for a 5- Instead of getting it from the cash box he gets it from the tipjar. In the process he gives the woman the $2 bill that has stayed in the tip jar since we opened. Sure it is only worth $2 but there was a sentimental value as well. Guess that's what we get for hiring a bamagrad.
