"I wish I had recorded Coarch's speech at the end of spring training in 1983"

and about how we were going to win a national championship. If he had asked me to stick my head in oven I would have done it after that speech. Hell I'd do it today if he asked. One of things I remember is at the start of the speech he was talking about how his whole head coarching career he had been planning to win a national championship.. when he said that I thought to my self "well that's silly as hell, coarch you don't win national championships at East Carolina and Wyoming" and I swear to Mike Donahue he said jsut as I thought that "well somma you are thinkin' that's silly as hell coarch you don't win national championships at East Carolina and Wyoming" He then said "but we at Auburn now, where you win national championships" and that we had the best goddmmed talent in the country from our running backs to offensive line and even "Frank Cox's #badword#ed managers' (we were collectively always "Frank's #badword#ed mangers" He then talked about Auburn being great and every body working hard and together and no doubt we would win a national championship.

He was right. #badword# AP Poll and UPI Poll and NBC and the Miami Hurricanes in their collective left ear. The NY Times was and is still often wrong but they were right about:link the 1983 Auburn team:
