Who don't understand that the #badword#ing climate changes routinely. Okay routinely in the Professor Duck geological sense.But none of the #badword#wad climate screechers have a clue as to why it was much hotter when the Dino's roamed the Earth than now- and what caused the Younger Dryas and a massive decline of 6 Degrees Celsius- leading to an increase of the ice caps- causing a corresponding massive increase in reflected sunlight (reducing absorbed solar radiation) leading in turn to more ice caps etc etc. So we have a conundrum:
What caused the massive cooling in the Younger Dryas of 15k years ago and conversely what caused the climate to reach temperatures in the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum wiht average temperatures of 9 C above current levels?
WTF caused Greenland to have avereage year round temperature of 73F. in the Paleocene-Econcen And no man to cause it? What caused Antartica to have #badword#ing massive dinosaurs walking in swamps around its interior...when today it is a #badword#ing frozen desert despite what you read.
Okay- lets go at this bit by bit:
The Earth's orbit is an ellipse around the sun. It is not circule. To complicate things:
The ellipse is not constant but changes. It moves in a cycle from near circulular (which is where we have been since about 10,000 b.c) and an extreme ellipise, which is where it was in the midst of the Younger Dryas and in the massive Northen Hemisphere Ice age that birthed the Neanderthals. The elliptical orbit at its extreme makes the north, or the south, pole very cold at its extreme (or hot relative to the other pole) see Earth's wobble or Milankovitch cycles below. During the Northern Hemisphere's "Ice Age" of 200,000-40,000 bc the ellipse was at the maximum (meaning the earth was much further than now at is apex) and the wobble was also at its Southern maximum (See below):
The wobble changes the aspect of the earth relative to the sun and changes about every 200-300k years. The current tilt is at 23.44 degrees and decreasing at a rate of about 0.013° per century. The current aspect makes the Northern hemisphere hotter than the South, and vice versa if it were reveresed.In about 5,000 years the earth's aspect will be begin favoring the southern Hemisphere... Prior to the last change over (and pole reversal) the Southern hemisphere was exposed and thus a current similar to the Gulf Stream heated up Antartica whilst the Northern Hemisphere was "isolated" as cold water and ice prevented water circulation from South to North (now the circulation is prevented North to South). So the current the aspect of the earth locks up the South and has opened up the North- thus explaining why London is warmer than Boston but lies north of Moscow!
Now when the extreme elliptical orbit combines with a Southern aspect of the wobble it sets up massive cooling and locking (of the Gulf Stream) and the resulting ice caps which reinforces the cooling cycle in the Northern Hemisphere. That is why during the so called Ice Age of 200,000 to 40,000 bc was about the Northern Hemisphere NOT the South. It explains whey humans were late in penetrating Europe and Northern Asia- it was similar to Antartica!. DUring that period the south was very mild when comparing latitudes North and South relative to the equator.
The last 10,000 years (the Holcene) have been the mildest ever recorded or estimated. The elliptical orbit of the earth about the sun is about as "round" and circular as it will ever be. The wobble of the earth has been titled slightly north-giving rise to the Gulf Stream because the Northern Atlantic is heated thus allowing warm Gulf Water to move Conversely we see the South relatively colder- see Antartica. In fact one could argue that without this climate change (confluence of favorable wobble and amost circular orbit of the earth) making weather milder and less harsh then civilizations of the fertile crescent would not have occurred or not have occurred where they did.
In about 5,000 years the wobble of the Earth will once again begin presenting the Southern Hemisphere at is maximum greater degree (with the North at is minimum) and the orbit will again move in to a more and more elliptical position with the earth much further from the sun that it is now... thus a orbit and wobble induced ICE age will begin about 7,100 Ad and could last 7-10 millienia.
One of the other massive variables is the cycle of Sunspot activity. The sunspot activity cycles as well (within the Elliptical orbit of the earth and the wobble of the earth about its axis). This century and the last sas seen very veyr active solar sunspot activity UNTIL RECENTLY. As an example the Maunder Minimum was a 70 year period in which virtually no sunspots occured and it is correlated almost exactly with the so called "little Ice Age" from the 1690's to the 1770s (the Thames river froze over and it explains why the troops at Valley Forge froze their asses off). Sunspots increase the ultra violet radiation and a drop in UVR will reduce surface temperatures of the earth by as much as 4-5C. This and the previous century (starting about 1920) have seen a steady increase in sunspot activity peaking about 2000 ad (yes winters were colder for your grandparents). It appears that the sunspot cycle is about 400 years looking at tree rings and ice cores from the poles. It appears the cycle is 300-400 years of heavy spot activity and 70-100 years of low or no activity. ANd it appears that we are on the verge of a non sun spot cycle... as over the last three years sunspot activity has dropped dramatically and this would coincide with this expected cycle (the last reduction occuring about 300-400 years. If this happens the temps over the next 50-70 years could drop 4-5 C which means Boston would be a #badword#ing icicle.
So here is what could throw us in an ice age
a)Change in ellipse to extreme
b) Continued change in the aspect of the earth so that the Southern Hemisphere is favored by the wobble
c)reduction in sunspot activity
Man climate piss ant climate warming activities in the face of any one of these is like trying to piss in the ocean to change it yellow. HUman consitently over estimate their power while the consistently underestimate the power of God's universe.
Oh and I want even mention volcanic activity like Krakatowa which reduced earth temps by 1-2 C in the 1880-90s after it blew it's top.
The bottom line is the climate bedwetters don't know #badword# and most of them could not explain the above if you held a gun to their empty #badword#ing heads.
