Thank you, sir. Wife wants to possibly do a little Garden District walk...

...and I want to do a little staggered walk in the French Quarter. So something accessible to both. I am guessing Canel St. is our best bet.

==============================

i always suggest folks walk the garden dist and eat lunch at commanders palace on washington ave.

they've got 25cent martinis at lunch.

commanders lunch menu

if commanders isn't your bag, pascal manales "invented" bbq shrimp (its not KC or Memphis BBQ) its on napolean and dryades street. menu

one of our citys best attractions is the National WW2 museum. its open from 9-5(6fri&sat) and you could spend all day - multiple days in there. NWW2M tripadvisor

the quarter is great for walking:

(parallel streets coming from the river)

decatur street has bars and cafe du monde

chartres street has some bars and resturants

royal street has art galleries and antiques

bourbon street

dauphine and burgundy have dive bars and residences (not great to be walking down after dark - better than it used to be - still not great)

pat o'briens (hurricanes) is on st peter and bourbon (entrances on both streets)

frenchman street is "where locals go," which really means that's where local artists go to perform non-bourbon street (club and cover song) sets; mostly brass and swing jazz bands and blues. the frenchman street district is really only two blocks from decatur to royal street.

spotted cat and apple barrel are my two favorite clubs on frenchman.

Kermit Ruffins carries the banner for new orleans' fun swing jazz. he has standing gigs on the little gen saloon on saturday nights

for 20 years kermit ruffins played at Vaughns bar in the bywater on thursday nights. He quit in 2014 and corey henry took his spot. corey is more funky than kermit, but its still a great show w some guarunteed great guests dropping in. he starts at 10 on thursdays. get an uber to/from vaughns if you go.
