Pettway began cross-training at tailback during the spring because Auburn didn't have a seasoned power back beyond Jovon Robinson. The idea was to make the rising sophomore truly portable -- a player who could block like a marauder at H-back and punish defenses with the ball in his hands.
At six feet tall and 240 pounds, this tailback isn't a chip off the old block.
This guy wants to embarrass you, emasculate you. Pettway isn't particularly fast. Nor can he beat many people beyond the tackles. Still, defenders say it's important to approach Pettway carefully when he comes barreling through an inside gap.
He brings a lot of brawn to every encounter.
