Obama administration takes another step in culture wars.
1) a transgendered man is a man; male, and a transgendered woman is a woman; female. These are people who buy into your notion of a gender binary. They were physically assigned the wrong bits by nature and science/our progressive culture have afforded them the opportunity to correct nature's mistake.
2) despite the assertions of many, our constitution does not provide for a Christian state dictated by the traditions or doctrine of church leaders. Instead, the first amendment to our Constitution begins "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion," Now, I think I know what you're thinking; "where's the second have of that religious bit?"

Folks seem to be going back to the "Christian defense" when supporting the states on this issue, the same Christian defense used by segregationists and racists for large periods of our country's history. They're even using politics of fear (bathroom sexual assault) again (negros are rapists; protect your women).
I am happy the president I voted for nominated an attorney general who will enforce civil rights laws and drag the south into the 21st century so we can confront our challenges together instead of getting hung up on what bathroom Marcia from accounting uses.

Nice long, thoughtful and passionate non point. Non sequitur of th day. This is not about protecting the rights os the few but stepping on the rights of the many.
This is not about the rights of the .05 % of the population whose mental problems make them think they are the other sex (which is binary for all the silliness of the moment) if the administration were interested in protecting people they would find a small solution for a small problem instead of placing 1/2 of the children in each school at risk and creating a real problem.
Every 1st year law student learns the principle that hard cases make bad law. A culture war crusading POTUS knows hard cases make an opportunity to bring in more chaos, affront his enemies and trample his duty under foot. That is what this is about- pushing a cause and an agenda and not protection or rights.
