I'll get my first, last and only doom and gloom post of the season out of the wa

I have tried to keep a positive attitude this football season.  It has been difficult.  I see a team that could be 8-3 or 3-8.  There's just something not quite right on this team and I'm not sure what it is.   On the other hand, I see a well compensated team in the western portion of the state that may be the best team in the country right now.

In that context I went looking for some good news, some hope from the history that you guys know I like to refer to.  Hard to find much. We have had great Iron Bowl upset victories in the past, 63, 72, 86, 89, 95, 02, 05, 13; but in each of those we took pretty good teams into the game.

When Auburn has been unranked playing a ranked bammer team, we have won the Iron Bowl exactly once in over 50 years. That was in 2002 when a shorthanded, unranked AU team beat the 9th ranked bammers with "a 6'5" registered and a midget" to quote turderinsider.  That AU team wound up ranked 14th after the bowl games.  The last poor or mediocre Auburn team to beat a big favorite bammer team was coached by Earl Brown in 1949.  That's right: Travis Tidwell, who would be 90 years old if he was still with us, QB'ed the last AU team to win in a circumstance like we face Saturday.  Unranked teams in 96, 99, and 09 came close and at least covered the spread against ranked bammer teams but couldn't quite finish the job.

So with all that being said.  We will crush the turds title hopes, meaning that the rebellious black bears will finally get to go to Atlanta for something other than a trip to Six Flags.  Lord help us either way.

Perhaps one of our talented ar-teests can Auburn-ize this pic. From a Belgian tweet with the caption, "We're stronger than we think!"
