RE: He makes a good point. Widespread family breakdown is the surest way to....
I see so much of the same thing. There is terrible racism and there are DWB incidents and a very uneven justice system -- but the hell of too many is the false hope that gov't will save them and the gangster life + the NBA or Rap Star dream is the answer. Gov't does not care about them. The sum of most their relationship to the NBA and Rap Stardom will be their money going to prop up the lavish lives of the .001% who are on the top of the pile.
I agree w/ the rage at injustice that deals with crimes of black people in a disproportional way and the rage at police abuse. But the hell and devastation of black America is the children being raised in the street by pimps, pushers and other children.

But, for whatever reason, most of the households were two parent families with kids. Some single parents, too, but mostly intact homes. I think the owner of the park actively discriminated against people with too many character flaws.
Of the kids I've kept in touch with from the neighborhood, 3 own their own businesses and are wildly successful, one just retired from the air force and is celebrating over 20 years of marriage. And I did okay, at least a standard deviation or two from what the circumstances of my birth would predict.
The greatest poverty is the loss of family. You can overcome material wants. Overcoming familial needs is not so easily accomplished.
