"The Believer ~ Steve Spurrier"

I  don't care that he coached for Florida, or who he's coached over the course of his career, but having watched this story on his life, no one can ever say that they were not touched by having known him, spent time in his presence or competed against him.  The man's a straight up person of character whos passionate about success and doesn't try to sell you on something that he doesn't firmly believe in himself.  We meaning Auburn have stood up to the challenge he's presented us since his own playing days at UF, but of all the storied coaches we've faced since 1990, hes earned every ounce of respect he's garnered upon entering our conference.  He single-handerly changed how the SEC played football over the course of his time coaching in the league by forcing other teams to become equally competitive from an offensive point of view.  Those that didn't suffered defeat on a routine basis, just ask UT and UGA.  I'm happy that Auburn made it a point to compete against his teams of the 90s and not relegate ourselves to a role of fodder for his teams to chew up and spit out annually.

Bama knew better than to match up with Spurrier as an annual rival from the East but we embraced and competed against his best year in and out.  We're a better team today for having done so.

War Eagle!
