Letting go. So many emotions.
I have two in college this Fall.
I moved one to a new apartment this past Monday; first time living off campus. After a long day moving in and arranging and rearranging all the furniture, buying all the living necessities, kitchen items, throw rugs, groceries, etc. we were resting in the living room before I left. I couldn't bring myself to get up and leave. I just wanted to stay there and pretend like my kids weren't growing up. It made for a long drive home.
Tomorrow I take my freshman off to college for the first time. The bedroom's cleaned out, posters and knick-knacks taken off the walls, car's packed and all gassed up. It will be another long day.
I keep wondering if there's something I've missed during their growing up. Something I didn't teach them; some way I didn't prepare them; as if I'm going to somehow take care of all these things over the next 24 hours.
In the end, most stunning is that the time together has passed by so quickly, so taken for granted....so taken for granted.

Wall outlets contain electrical current. Paper clips shouldn't be stuck in there to check.
